ILSaS: Integrated Library System as a Service
Uni Systems integrated 26 different standalone academic libraries with a great diversity of library management systems, policies and procedures into a central infrastructure in order to provide an Integrated Library System as Service (IlSaS) for all the members, achieving economies of scale.
The Hellenic Academic Libraries Link (HEAL-Link), is a consortium, of 49 members of which are all public Universities and Technological Educational Institutions of Greece. With a purpose to save resources and provide improved support services for teachers, library staff and students. Through HEAL-Link, the academic community has access to 24,784 electronic journals, databases (bibliographic or full text) and collections of e-books.
The Hellenic Academic Libraries Consortium needed a new central infrastructure for the provision of an Integrated Library Environment as a Service that would replace the local library systems of 26 academic libraries.
Uni Systems offered a solution that included a mix of applications in order to simplify the library management system, integrate it with a searching platform and make its remote management feasible.
