Uni Systems is in charge of the administrative coordination of the ENTRUST Research and Innovation Action, officially started on January 1st, 2023. The project is funded by European Commission under Horizon Europe Programme (Grant Agreement No. 101095634), and spans on the period January 2023 – December 2025.

ENTRUST envisions to holistically manage the lifecycle of connected medical devices, strengthening trust in the entire medical ecosystem. The project will leverage a series of breakthrough solutions to enhance assurance without limiting the applicability of connected medical devices. This includes formally verified trust models, remote attestation mechanisms, risk assessment processes, secure lifecycle procedures, security policies, technical recommendations, and real-time conformity certificates based on distributed ledgers. The project will introduce a novel remote attestation mechanism to ensure the device’s correct operation at runtime regardless of its computational power, which will be accompanied by dynamic trust assessment models capable of identifying the required level of trustworthiness per device and service. This will also enable us to define appropriate protection-profiles per device, including targets of validation properties to be attested during runtime.

The added value and effectiveness of ENTRUST will be validated and evaluated in four real-world use cases ranging from wearable and medical devices used for remote patient monitoring to high-end stationary equipment used in hospitals and clinics.

Apart from the administrative coordination of the project, Uni Systems will actively contribute to the technical requirements and the reference architecture of ENTRUST, to the Security and Trust Attestation Models for Runtime Verification as well as to the S/W and Trust Controls Update for Remote connected medical devices. Moreover, Uni Systems will work in the Blockchain Design and Services Specification, in the Enforcement of Distributed Trust Framework and Smart Contracts for Lifecycle Management of Medical Devices as well as in the connected medical devices Evidence Monitoring Collection.
